Which clarinet to buy for a starter, do I choose a wooden clarinet (grenadilla) or a composite material, plastic? Is it easy to upgrade to a better clarinet and when is the right time to do so?

It seems that everybody has his own opinion about student clarinets.

I first practiced this work when I was about 17: it’s not that difficult in a technical way, but on the musical level, the phrasings, the breathing and so on, it’s quite a challenge. Furthermore it’s a beautiful piece to enjoy and play it together with a really good pianist.
